Altitude sickness, also termed as Acute Mountain sickness caused when one reaches a significantly high altitude is one of the common issues arising in treks and expeditions. It is a kind of sickness that our body faces when we are not properly acclimatized and acquainted with the high altitude. As we ascend towards the higher altitude, the oxygen level significantly drops resulting in the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • A feeling of Nausea or Vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness or light-headedness
  • Difficulty in sleeping

If you feel any of these symptoms, please make sure you notify our trekking/ expedition guide as soon as possible so that we can help you before you go through any bad consequences. AMS should not be taken lightly as it can result in sudden fainting and in worst cases death. But when preventive measures are taken, it will be cured easily.

Check out the following preventive measures to help yourself or your friends prevent Altitude sickness during your journey in the higher altitudes.
