Mt Ama Dablam Expedition (6812m)

24 Days Spring Nepal
Description:

Ama Dablam (6812m) is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Popularly known as the “Matterhorn of the Himalaya”, Mt Ama Dablam is regarded as the jewel of the Himalayas in Nepal. It looks like a giant pyramid and the glacier hanging on the southwest face resembles the sacred ornament or jewelry box called “Dablam”; used by Sherpa Women. Hence, it was named Ama Dablam. The giant mountain rises above the Dudh Koshi River valley towards the south of Everest and Lhotse in the Khumbu Region.

The journey to Ama Dablam involves a trek to the Everest Base Camp along with some technical rock, ice and snow climbing experience. Although the climbing is not too difficult, we must allow some good time for acclimatization. One can enjoy the panoramic views of Mt Everest, Cho Oyu, Mt Lhotse and Mt Makalu from the top of the summit.

Itinerary:

As you land at the airport and complete your immigration procedure, our representative will pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the hotel for rest. We will gather for the welcome dinner in the evening.

On this day, we will prepare all the documents, acquire necessary permits and conduct the briefing about the expedition. We will also check for all gears and equipment required for the expedition.

After breakfast at the hotel, we take a short domestic flight to Lukla. Then we descend towards the Dudh Koshi River and follow the main trail to reach Phakding to rest overnight.

Walking along the bank of the Dudh Koshi River and past the dense forests of Pine, Fir, Deodar, and Rhododendrons we reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar at 3440 is a beautiful stop for the trekkers and climbers with fascinating views and very good facilities of accommodation. We rest here one more day to acclimatize ourselves. During our stay here, we will explore the surrounding areas, monasteries and experience the local Sherpa culture.

From Namche Bazaar, we head towards Pangboche. The trail is rugged and serves few tea houses in between.

From Pangboche, We ascend towards Ama Dablam Base Camp at 4640m altitude. Here, we will conduct some climbing practices and prayer rituals.

Starting from the base camp, we gradually move upwards to reach the summit. We will require setting up two more base camps before actually reaching the pinnacle. Upon reaching the summit, we slowly descend towards the Base Camp and prepare to leave.

While returning, we will be covering more distance so we directly stop at Dibuche.

Through the uphill and downhill, we follow the trail back to Lukla and rest overnight in a lodge.

After spending a night in Lukla, we take a flight back to Kathmandu and rest at the hotel.

If you have time constraints and need to leave early, we will drop you off at the airport for your scheduled departure.
